Nigel Beck is responsible for strategic partnerships and acquiring companies to augment IBM's social software portfolio. He has helped a diverse range of companies transform themselves into social businesses by combining technology implementation with cultural transformation. Nigel started in IBM as a Director and founder of WebSphere Product Line Management, where he was credited for creating, defining, naming, and bringing to market the first three versions of the product line. By 2006, Nigel was responsible for marketing IBM's entire $4 billion semiconductor portfolio and associated consulting. Prior to his current role at IBM, Nigel founded a "mobile local social" startup called "liketribe", focusing on providing intelligent recommendations, and a messaging site called "mail2.im" focusing on "find me follow me" text, email, SMS, and instant messaging.
