After 3 years as Global Head of Media Investment Banking, Mr. Goodwin recently became Senior Advisor to Jefferies on Media and Internet-related transactions, enabling him to establish J Goodwin & Co and spend more time on PROfounders Capital and the Founders Forum.
Prior to joining Jefferies in 2007, Mr. Goodwin was CEO & Co-Founder of LongAcre Partners where he helped build the company into Europe‟s leading mid-market media corporate finance house. LongAcre successfully completed over $15bn of transactions prior to the sale to Jefferies. Key transactions included the £210m sale of Uswitch to E.W.Scripps, the £175msale of Friends Reunited to ITV plc and the sale of Trader Classified Media‟s businesses worldwide for €1.6bn.
Mr. Goodwin founded the Founders Forum in 2003, along with Brent Hoberman: now in its 6th year, this non profit event continues to bring together entrepreneurs, business leaders and investors in the key digital sectors. In 2009, Mr. Goodwin co-founded PROfounders Capital, an early stage fund backed by entrepreneurs for digital entrepreneurs, together with Brent Hoberman and Michael Birch.
Previously, Mr. Goodwin focused on the media sector at Apax Partners and later joined the MBI team of Talk Radio, backed by News Corporation and Liberty Media. Talk Radio then became the foundation for The Wireless Group plc, of which Mr. Goodwin became Group Managing Director.
